She took care of the bills, she did what she can to keep them both afloat, and she tried pushing my Dad to do something about his business. I'm really thankful for my Mom during this time because it wasn't easy. My Parents barely made it through this whole ordeal, and it's all thanks to my Mom. So fast forward to now, my parents, within the past year, were able to refinance the taxes they owed along with other debt, into one loan, which is pretty much acting like mortgage payments for them. And they have been good on making payments. However, recently, it's come to light that my Dad still has back taxes that his business owes for years going as far back as 2016. (Oh we know my Dad has really screwed things up here and for awhile now). We have tried to talk to him and pleaded with him to either call his business quits (and shut it down) or at least try and put more effort in it so it doesn't become a liability to us. So now we're at my current situation. My Dad's business owes about $20K total in back taxes (& fees) and my Mom, not wanting to repeat history and get back into the situation they were in before, wants to pay off this amount ASAP.
