Some of our specialized music spaces include: The Recording Studio provides a tracking room large enough for 24 musicians, an isolation booth for singers, drums or cabinets, and a large Control Room filled with the tools of the trade. The Music Resource Center provides reference material, music theory tutorial software and a large library of recordings and listening materials for Performing Arts students. Students must develop new learning objectives and/or intern at a new site upon each repetition. Students may not earn more than 16 units in any combination of cooperative work experience (general or occupational) and/or internship studies during community college attendance. Set a course for an exciting career in the entertainment industry with an associate's degree in Sound Recording and Music Technology from Montco. Studying under such accomplished faculty members as Grammy-nominated engineer/producer David Ivory, you will gain a comprehensive background in sound recording, music production and music technology comparable to the first two years at a conservatory. Classes are held in Blue Bell Campus's Advanced Technology Center (ATC), which contains state-of-the-art recording studios and electronic music and computer labs. It also holds a new, cutting edge, professional mixing suite, which opened in spring 2018. The Center provides hands-on exposure in all aspects of recording. Thanks to practical, real-world experiences gained in the program, you will be able to use your skills after graduation to find entry-level work in the recording industry. MTEC 160: Business of Music and Media I Units: 3 Lecture 3 hours. This course explores the essential topics relevant to participation in the contemporary music and media industry: intellectual property rights, copyright law, publishing administration, performing rights organizations, music licensing, contracts, and artist representation. C-ID CMUS-140X. MTEC 210: Recording Arts III Prerequisites: MTEC 111. This third in a four-course sequence provides an in-depth technical and applied study of recording techniques covered in the previous recording arts courses. Topics include effects and dynamics processing and complex routing used in the context of the multi-track recording and mixdown. Students work within a group and utilize studio time to complete assignments within a given timeline. MTEC 211: Recording Arts IV Prerequisites: MTEC 210. This fourth and final course in the recording arts technology sequence involves technical, personnel, and musical elements for final production of commercial music projects.
